Bethel Navy JROTC Leads 9-11 Commemoration

Cadets participate in and lead state and local events in honor of the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9-11-2001

The Bethel High School Navy JROTC cadets were actively involved in state and local 9-11 commemorations this week. Their color guard presented the colors at the Connecticut 9-11 Memorial where the Governor and many other officials and victims’ families gathered to remember the fallen at Sherwood Is. State Park on Thursday evening. The picture captures Governor Malloy and Lt. Governor Wyman honoring our national emblem as Color Guard Rifle Bearer Cadet Jarrett Leonard presents arms.

In school, the cadets conducted a moving school-wide commemoration. Although the cadets were only in school for one week, they were able to produce a very dramatic video tribute, which included interviews with longtime Bethel resident and WWII era veteran Mr. Gene Rubino, Bethel teacher and Navy veteran Mr. Kim Trinklein, and Bethel teacher Miss Anne Belardinelli, along with Mrs. Sonia Eaton, the mother of 2 Bethel NJROTC cadets.

The video they produced is available for all to see: http://devos2.bethel.k12.ct.us/show?video=cfab15190a6f
