Bethel Photographer to Celebrate 'Real Beauty'

Stacy Burt is holding a special photo shoot to focus on the beauty in real women.

Though always looking to capture the perfect moment, this weekend local photographer Stacy Burt is looking to particularly capture real women and their real beauty.

On Saturday, May 14, Burt will hold a special mini-session, "Real Women. Real Beauty," for women looking to take time for themselves and appreciate who they are.

Burt, of Bethel, said the inspiration for the event came after talking to women who have previously hesitated about having their picture taken.

"There have been so many times when I’ll talk to women who have said ‘I would love to have my pictures taken, but I need to lose 10 pounds or I’m waiting for my hair to grow,’" Burt said. "My goal is to make women feel confident and to give them a photograph they love and feel comfortable sharing."

As a mother, Burt said she understands how women often put others' needs before their own and that they may feel guilty spending money on themselves.

Saturday's sessions, taking place at a local outdoor setting, will be held at a special rate, $75, which includes a free 5x7 photograph. Afterward, participates will also be able to pick from 8-10 hand-edited photographs to purchase.

Burt said: "We all have issues; little things that we nitpick, but the reality is that we all have beauty in us. Whether it’s our beautiful eyes, smile, personality, whatever it is, we all have things that need to be celebrated."

Originally from Darien, Burt has been living in Bethel for the past 10 years and has been a professional photographer since 2008. She said her passion for photography started out as a hobby, first taking classes in high school and college. Since the birth of her children, Burt said, "My love just blew up for photography."

Focusing mostly on children, small groups and individuals, Burt said she describes herself as a "custom portrait and lifestyle photographer" and that working with her is very personal experience.

"I meet every client on-location for a very personalized session, develop a rapport with them and then artfully capture the moments in their lives that will make meaningful pieces of art for them," she said. " I spend a lot of time with my clients – from the beginning of the process, through to the end with the hopes that each and every client has a great, custom experience."
