Bethel Schools Names New Finance Chief

BETHEL, CT — The Bethel Public Schools has announced the hire of a new director of Finance and Business Operations.

Jen Variale, former chair of Bethel High School's Mathematics Department, will move into the position vacated by Theresa Yonsky’s retirement effective July 1.

Prior to her time in school system, Variale worked as a finance and planning manager for IBM, where her responsibilities included development of long-term strategic financial plans; management of teams; providing financial analysis and business recommendations to senior executives; and negotiating resolutions to conflicts regarding funding and capital allocations.

Ms. Variale was selected from a pool of 15 applicants. She holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Brown University, and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Santa Clara University.
