J & B Band – Billy Michael, Bethel’s showman extraordinaire,
opens the Concert Series with entertaining music and delightful
fun. Enjoy the eclectic range of the instrumentals and vocals that
are interspersed with hometown history. It’s guaranteed to be a
delightful evening!
Sponsored by Belardinelli Tire Company, Smitty’s Auto Body, and
the Savings Bank of Danbury.
Highway Robbery – Brand new to the concert scene, this local
group will present a mix of classical rock, southern rock, blues,
and country music. All five members provide vocals along with
instrumentals featuring lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and drums.
Sponsored by First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker and Friends of
Bethel Seniors.
Easton Banjo Society: Turn the clock back to the mid 19th
century and the plinking, plunking, and strumming of several types
of banjos played by musicians garbed in bow ties, red-striped
vests, and straw hats. “Ain’t She Sweet,” “Somebody Stole My
Gal,” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy” take us back to the days of
yesteryear before electronics changed the world of popular music.
Special sponsorship by Ergo Chef.
Hot Cat Jazz Band: Cancelled last year by Hurricane Irene, Ross
Tucker’s six-piece group promises to stir the air with the upbeat
notes of Dixieland, New Orleans Jazz, Big Band Hits, and other
exhilarating sounds from the 1920’s.
Hear “The Muskrat Ramble,” “Take the A Train,” “Sentimental Journey,”
and “Bill Bailey” and enjoy a rousing evening!
Sponsored by Attorney Daniel O’Grady, R. T. Vanderbilt
Company, Inc., and Union Savings Bank.
Sunday, August 5, 2012:
The Kerry Boys: Audience participation highlights the Irish
selections of Mark James and Pierce Campbell. Famous for their
close harmonies in both the traditional and original pieces,
the “Boys” convey their infectious enthusiasm in such a way that
the audience responds with clapping, singing, and even dancing.
Enjoy Irish favorites delivered with zest and high energy!
Sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank, Boylan Chiropractic, and
Selectman Richard Straiton.
Sunday, August 12, 2012:
Mental Health: Led by Richard Madwid, this local four-member
band has roots deeply embedded in the bluesy rock ‘n roll sounds
of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s. With influences from the Beatles to Elvis
Presley to the Rolling Stones to Eric Clapton, the band’s repertoire
includes some favorites with a personalized interpretation.
Sponsored by State Representative Dan Carter and Caraluzzi’s
Bethel Food Market and Nutmeg Discount Liquor.
Sunday, August 19, 2012:
The Big Beat Oldies Band: Specializing in the sounds of the
50’s and 60’s, these four musicians have been involved in music
since they were youngsters. Joe Neuman, the band’s founder and
leader, sounds like Elvis Presley. Featured will be some of his
original songs as well as favorites from the “golden oldies.”
Sponsored by R. E. Lawlor Graphics and Printing, State Senator
Toni Boucher, and State Senator Michael McLachlan.
Sunday, August 26, 2012:
Phil LoPresti Jr. with the Clark Eno Orchestra: End the
concert season with the “Big Band” sounds of the Clark Eno
Orchestra and the talented Phil LoPresti Jr. Vocals such as “Night
and Day,” “Old Devil Moon,” and “I Left My Heart in San
Francisco” will remind you of the music of Frank Sinatra, Tony
Bennett, and Dean Martin. Enjoy a special evening with some
wonderful entertainment.
Sponsored by Selectman Paul Szatkowski, The Bethel Republican
Town Committee, and Heitcamp, Inc.
