Bethel Teen Jumps From Second-Story Window to Flee Fire
The fire damaged the kitchen, and killed the family pet.
BETHEL, CT — An 18-year-old jumped from the second-story of his Nashville Road home Tuesday morning to flee a house fire.
Firefighters from Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company and Bethel Fire & EMS were alerted to the blaze just after 10 a.m., and arrived shortly after the home's sole occupant had made his jump, with the assistance of a neighbor. The teen was transported to Danbury Hospital "for injuries consistent with smoke inhalation," and a pet rabbit was killed in the fire, according to a Facebook post by the Stony Hill Fire Company.
Crews found an active fire in the kitchen on the first floor, which suffered extensive smoke and fire damage according to the report.
