Bethel Veterans Charity Raising The Bar For The Nation

It started as a free gym to workout out at, but has since morphed into something only God could've orchestrated.

Free Gym Memberships, Personal Training, Camping & River Rafting Trips, Golf Outings, Recognition Dinners and more.

Bethel based combat veterans charity, Operation Vet Fit, is raising eyebrows in Connecticut and across the country as a forefront service provider for area combat veterans. Housed out of a 24/7 fitness center on Greenwood Avenue in downtown Bethel, Operation Vet Fit provides a free 24/7 fitness center, personal training, group training programs, outdoor weekend camping and rafting trips, golf outings, combat veteran recognition dinners and assistance to veterans and their family members in navigating the many available programs and services through the Veterans Affairs, local Veterans Centers and other charities. But they also act as a liaison on veterans issues with the various local, state and federal organizations and agencies in place.

In their first year as a charity, Operation Vet Fit, has hosted the Bethel 5K Tribute Run, A Golf Outing followed by a Combat Veterans Recognition Dinner, Camping trip to Lime Rock Park, and a Camping and River Rafting trip in Charlemont Mass, along the Deerfield River; all while providing a 3,000 Sq-Ft 24/7 fitness center. And here is the amazing part, all at no cost to the Veterans.

Operation Vet Fit has grown to include 56 combat veteran members in just its first year-and-a-half existence. From an idea in May, 2012 to a full-fledged, self funded, tax-exempt 501©(3), with absolutely no debt, and no paid employees or compensated board members, Operation Vet Fit has set a higher bar regarding efficiency of services being provided to all combat veterans.

Founded by US Marine veteran, Dan Gaita and his wife Erin, Operation Vet Fit, is the direct result of the challenges the couple has faced over the last decade.

We wanted to be able to offer something “real” something that would enable us to help those suffering from PTSD and other service connected injuries or disabilities.” Said Gaita
