Bethel Woman Among Five Facing Drug Charges in Danbury Bust

Police said they received information from a reliable informant about the drug sales.

Five people are facing charges after members of the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigation Division received information of drug sales being conducted by a Danbury man well known to police.

Police said they received the information from a reliable informant about sales being conducted by 44-year-old Alex Marks.

After receiving the information, police began surveillance on Marks. On Oct. 19, Marks was seen entering the driveway of Laurel Gardens where he met up with 25-year-old Henry Austin, of Waterbury, police said.

The two then allegedly got into Marks’ car where officers observed a transaction. After searching the car, police found approximately seven grams of crack cocaine and seven individually packed bags of marijuana. The passenger in Marks’ car, 24-year-old Cassandra Richter, of Bethel was found to be in possession of heroin and a crack pipe, police said.

Additionally, police said they found marijuana and $2,058 in cash in Austin’s car.

The following are facing charges:

Henry Austin, 25, of Waterbury, Bond: $150,000

  • Sale of controlled substance by non-drug dependent person
  • Distribution of controlled substances less than 1500 feet from a school
  • Distribution of controlled substances less than 1500 feet from a school
  • Possession of controlled substances: narcotics
  • Possession of controlled substances: non-narcotics, less than 4 ounces on marijuana
  • Illegal possession

Alex Marks, 44, of Danbury, Bond: $150,000

  • Illegal sale of controlled substance
  • Possession with intention to sell
  • Distribution of controlled substances less than 1500 feet from a school
  • Possession of controlled substances: narcotics
  • Possession of controlled substances: non-narcotics, less than 4 ounces on marijuana
  • Illegal possession

Cassandra Richter, 24, of Bethel, Released with promise to appear

  • Sale of controlled substance by non-drug dependent person
  • Use of drug paraphernalia
  • Distribution of controlled substances less than 1500 feet from a school
  • Possession of controlled substances: narcotics
  • Illegal possession

Jason Perez, 33, of Waterbury, Bond: $20,000

  • Conspiracy to commit illegal sale of controlled substance by non-drug dependent person
  • Conspiracy to commit illegal sale of controlled substance by non-drug dependent person
  • Conspiracy to commit/ distribution of controlled substances less than 1500 feet from a school
  • Conspiracy to commit possession of controlled substances: narcotics
