Bethel Woman Arrested After Striking Mother

Bethel police responded to a Grassy Plain Street home at 1:06 p.m. Friday after a call came in for a domestic dispute between a mother and daughter.

Upon arrival, officers learned that Sara Smith, 19, struck her mother in the face during the dispute before leaving the residence and walking northbound on Grassy Plain Street.

When police ordered Smith to stop, she refused and then struggled with officers attempting to take her into custody, according to police reports.

She was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer and released on $1,500 bond with a court date set for June 10.

Smith was arrested for a similar incident in Brookfield the day before, June 6.
