[Updated] BREAKING: 2-Car Crash in Newtown Closes Route 302, 2 Extricated
Police, fire and ambulance crews are on scene of a 2-car head-on crash just past the Waldorf School in Newtown near the Bethel town line.

[Update 9:05 p.m.]
From Joe Masso, Assistant Fire Chief, Dodgingtown Fire Department:
“There were two patients involved in Monday’s accident. Two ambulances and paramedics were requested. I called for Newtown Hook and Ladder for help due to the severity of the damage. Dodgingtown EMT attended to the patient in the silver SUV. We had seven firefighters from Dodgingtown and three fire vehicles respond. I’d like to send a big thank you to Hook and Ladder and EMS for the help.”

A terrible 2-car head-on collision on Rt. 302 in Newtown has shut down the road between Flat Swamp and Cemetery Road. Drivers are being detoured as fire, ambulance and fire crews are on the scene.
According to a Newtown Police officer who is directing traffic, two life support victims had to be extricated from the vehicle. The life support victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The car that looks like it had crossed the center line, crashed into an SUV and looked to be totaled.
