Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff Members:

I am writing to follow up with my recent correspondence about a former Berry School staff member who is alleged to have engaged in inappropriate conduct with minor children. District officials learned that Brian Stroh was arrested last night for sexual assault in the fourth degree and risk of injury to a minor. While current information indicates that Mr. Stroh’s alleged activities took place away from school, these allegations are deeply troubling.
Mr. Stroh resigned his position with the Bethel Public Schools on February 19, 2015, after the District placed him on administrative leave on February 19, 2015, following the District’s notification that he was under investigation by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the police. While Mr. Stroh’s employment with the Bethel Public Schools has ended, the District will continue to cooperate with DCF and law enforcement officials. Other than sending administrative paperwork regarding his resignation, the District has had no contact with Mr. Stroh since his resignation.

I understand that families are concerned about these disturbing allegations. I also understand that you may have many questions. While the District is not authorized to disclose certain information, as DCF and criminal investigations are ongoing, I have attached additional information in a question and answer format to address some common questions.
As I stated before, our students’ safety and well-being are the District’s paramount concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Christine Carver, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools
