BREAKING NEWS: Bomb Threat Evacuates Sandy Hook Elementary School Wednesday
No evidence of a bomb was found at the school by police, students are safe and finishing school at nearby Monroe school.

A bomb threat caused the evacuation of Sandy Hook Elementary School (SHES) in Monroe Wednesday morning, October 1, 2014, after someone called in a bomb threat, according to Monroe police.
Monroe police Lt. Brian H. McCauley said the call was received at 9:39 a.m., according to the Hartford Courant.

The building was evacuated as a precaution and and students were moved to the nearby Monroe School. Police said they will finish their school day there.
There was no evidence of a threat after police thoroughly searched the SHES school. Police are concentrating on investigating the call and caller, according to McCauley.

Sandy Hook students have been attending school in Monroe following the Dec. 14, 2012 mass shooting where a gunman caused the death of 20 students and six school personnel.
