BRTC Chair Demands the DTC CHAIR moderates his Democrate Facebook Page

After reading comments on the Bethel Democrat Facebook page, critical of State Rep Will Duff, but also laced with profanity and personal attacks against his family, I sent the following to my counterpart, Nick Vitti:

Nick,

As Chairman to Chairman, I am concerned about the vitriol you are allowing to continue on your official Facebook page for the Bethel Democrats.

Regardless of the hurt feelings some of your members express regarding a post, taken out of context, which you called “silly”, profanity, economic threats against a State Representative’s mother, name calling against his spouse. These are unacceptable and the fact they persist now for a full day is unacceptable.

You need to step in and moderate your official Democrat Facebook page, immediately removing the personal attacks against Will’s family members and use of the “f-bomb”

Bethel Democrats We were made aware of some off-color and inappropriate comments in this
thread by concerned neighbors, and those offensive comments have been removed. Please keep the discussion to the offense (the remark) by Mr. Duff, and not about the State Representative's family. Please avoid profanity. Those who do not respect this request will be blocked from participating in the discussion.

I'm glad the moderator (eventually) did the right thing, but it's a shame this "concerned neighbor" had to press so hard for a modicum of civility.
