Byrd's Books Hosts Launch of Highly Anticipated Kids' Book

Gail Carson Levine's first book for children, "Ella Enchanted," was named a Newberry Honor Book. Her newest tale is set in the same world.

BETHEL, CT — Byrd's Books will be hosting a special launch of "Ogre Enchanted" by Newberry-honored author Gail Carson Levine on Oct. 16.

In 1998, Gail Carson Levine’s first book for children, "Ella Enchanted," was named a Newberry Honor Book. Her newest tale is set in the world of that book.

"We've always prided ourselves on offering the best reads to our community, including selections that attract devoted readers of all ages," said Alice Hutchinson, owner of Byrd's Books. "We are especially thrilled to welcome Gail Carson Levine to our new location."

Levine’s other books include "Ever," a New York Times bestseller; "Fairest," a Best Book of the Year for Publishers Weekly and School Library Journal, and a New York Times bestseller; "Dave at Night," an ALA Notable Book and Best Book for Young Adults; "The Wish;" "The Two Princesses of Bamarre;" and six Princess Tales books. She is also the author of the nonfiction books "Writing Magic: Creating Stories That Fly" and "Writer to Writer: From Think to Ink," as well as the picture books "Betsy Who Cried Wolf" and "Betsy Red Hoodie."

Byrd’s Books is a general bookstore that carries only new titles, with a special focus on Connecticut authors, poets, publishers and illustrators. It is located at 178 Greenwood Avenue, adjacent to The Toy Room and the nearby landmarked Opera House, across the street from the Bethel Public Library.
