CT - Taxing Businesses - Even After They Are Gone
With the worst economy in the nation and no signs of improvement, CT keeps coming up with the most clever ideas to bridge the gap caused by spending insanity....Tax closed businesses. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Business Entity Tax - Even When Your Closed?
I just received another reminder why CT is the worst in the nation for small business and economics...
They tax you even after your closed. Yes sir, this is for real.
I was forced to close my company last year due to year over year losses and no income revenue. Yet the CT Department of Revenue Services still sent me a Business Entity Tax bill as though I was still in operations.
Nothing like being kicked when your down... Kind of like the State exuming the body of a dead person just to squeeze out one last tax payment because he was alive for one day the previous year.
Naturally, the CT Department of Revenue does not care that we were forced to close, they just care that you were once open for a day the previous year.
But wait, it keeps getting better.
That $250 tax last month is now $310 due to a $50 late payment penalty and $10 interest charge. Couple that with the written threat of collection, enforcement action, tax leins and warrants and you have just made your State the mockery of the entire nation. Well done jack-wagons.One problem that perhaps the readers of this can help me with....?
How on earth does a dead company with no revenues and no bank account pay a tax bill with no money?
Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?
