Deuschle Out of the Race for Bethel First Selectman

The Republican Town Committee has not yet named their new candidate

BETHEL, CT — Republican Steve Deuschle has dropped out of the race for first selectman, the News-Times has reported.

Deuschle, a 23-year Bethel resident who has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission since 2009, cited family reasons for his decision.

The Republican Town Committee unanimously endorsed Deuschle for the race in February. The RTC has not yet named their new candidate, who will run against Democrat incumbent Matt Knickerbocker.

Deuschle is president of the Board of Directors, Bethel Community Food Pantry, and member of the Board of Directors, Brotherhood in Action. Other volunteer work includes the SCOTTY Fund and the Appalachia Service Project.
