Dolores Contrata, 81, of Bethel, Passed Away

Dolores (Giuliano) Contrata, age 81, of Bethel, CT, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2016. She was the wife of John Contrata.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY, March 30, 1935 a daughter of the late Joseph and Sally (Baudo) Giuliano. Dolores met her future husband while working at New York University as an Administrative Assistant, and then moved to Long Island where she raised her family. She enjoyed practicing and teaching Astrology. An accomplished piano player, her hobbies also included bowling, crossword puzzles and being an armchair Jeopardy champion. Her true passion however was her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her daughters: Diane Anderson and her husband Mark of Sewell, NJ, Susan DeCarlo and her husband Joe of Bethel, CT; son: John F. Contrata and his wife Kelly of Vestal, NY, sister: Frances LaRocca; grandchildren: Kevin Anderson and his wife Melanie, Amanda DeCarlo and her fiancée Reid Jones, Lauren DeCarlo, John, Ronnie and Thomas Contrata; great granddaughter: Katie Anderson as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson: Brian Anderson and sisters: Lillian Manno and RoseMarie Russo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, Bethel, Tuesday morning at 10:00. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Monday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 and in the evening from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
