Fire Destroys Building at Bethel Industrial Park

First responders began their efforts to extinguish the fire beginning around 1:30 p.m., but did not bring it under control until 8:30.

BETHEL, CT — Firefighters from around the area battled a blaze that ultimately destroyed a building in the Francis J. Clarke Industrial Park on Sunday afternoon.

First responders began their efforts to extinguish the fire beginning around 1:30 p.m., but did not bring it under control until 8:30 in the evening, two-and-a-half hours after an excavator was brought onto the scene to open up the building.

Crews from Shelton, Roxbury, Danbury, Trumbull, Redding, Brookfield, Weston, Newtown, and Monroe were all called upon for mutual aid at the scene.

The center of the fire was a more than 10,000-square-foot manufacturing building at 21 Francis J. Clarke Circle.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bethel fire marshal. There were no reports of injuries.
