Firefighters Rescue Kitten In Bethel

In a twist to the rescuing-a-cat-from-a-tree trope, a firefighter descended into a storm drain to fetch a feline in danger.

BETHEL, CT — In a twist to the rescuing-a-cat-from-a-tree trope, a firefighter descended into a storm drain to fetch a feline in danger.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to the distressed kitten. After removing the "stubborn" grate, a firefighter who is "an avid cat owner" entered the catch basin and coaxed the kitten out with his own bag of cat treats, fire officials said.

The cat was uninjured and was returned to its owners, according to the report.
