Free Bridge Lessons in Newtown for Aspiring Players

Newtown Bridge Club will host 4 weeks of free lessons for aspiring bridge players on Mondays starting September 22.

The Newtown Bridge Club will host 4 weeks of free lessons for aspiring bridge players on Mondays, 9:30 to noon, at the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Station, 34 Hawleyville Road (Route 25), Newtown CT, beginning September 22, 2014.

“The Easybridge! lesson program offered at the club emphasizes fun and learning from playing. Beginners play in a game their first lesson,” said club manager Susan Fronapfel who will present the lessons. “Players enjoy meeting others who are learning the game and many friendships are formed at the bridge table.”

Beginners and players returning to bridge after some years can continue in the Easybridge!1 program for 14 weeks. Each week begins with a 20-25 minute lesson followed by two hours of play. Players are encouraged to come to the lessons alone or with friends. The first four weeks of lessons are free; starting at week 5, the cost is $12 per lesson. An optional textbook is available for $15.

The Newtown Bridge Club is affiliated with the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). The club holds four ACBL-sanctioned duplicate bridge games each week: Mondays at 1 pm, Tuesdays at 10 am and 7 pm and Wednesdays at 10 am. Games are played at the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Station, 0.3 mile north of I-84 exit 9. All bridge players are welcome.
