Future of Flight Proceeds to CT Cancer Foundation

Northeast Wrestling's Future of Flight match featuring Brian Anthony, this Friday, will support CT Cancer Foundation!

Calling all wrestling fans!

The Connecticut Cancer Foundation (CCF) is excited to announce its support from Northeast Wrestling at the Future of Flight match this Friday.

Northeast Wrestling, the country’s leading independent wrestling promotion, will hold the regional match in Danbury on July 14 featuring Brian Anthony of Brookfield. A portion of the proceeds will go to CCF, which will use the funds to support Connecticut Cancer patients—including seven-year-old Gregory from Danbury, the pediatric “ambassador” for CCF’s Cycle Against Cancer on July 29.

Brian Anthony (Ciskowski) is making a comeback in this match. He hails from Bethel and now lives in Brookfield.

He was Northeast Wrestling’s longest-reigning champion for a time, but nagging injuries have kept him from competing recently. Besides being a champion wrestler, however, Brian likes to help those in need and uses his fame to support cancer patients.

In 2016, Brian contacted CCF after seeing a photo of a young cancer patient wearing one of his t-shirts. 11-year-old Dan Therriault of Bristol was battling bone cancer and was CCF’s ambassador for their M.e.l.t.-a-thon Against Cancer; he was featured in Better CT when Brian saw his picture. Because Dan is such a huge fan, Brian visited him in the hospital and the two had a great time! Dan is now in remission, and his story reminds us that support such as that from Brian makes a difference to those fighting the disease.

As a percentage of the proceeds from the match will help cancer patients just like Dan and Gregory, Brian continues to play his part in supporting CT patients and families.

It's a very humbling experience to know you are able to help such a great organization while doing something you love to do!” he says. CCF is extremely grateful to him and to Northeast Wrestling for its support.

Brian joins other great wrestlers in the Future of Flight, including new champion Cody Rhodes and Danbury’s own Adira. The bell rings at 7:30 PM on Friday July 14 at the Danbury PAL Building, 35 Hayestown Rd., Danbury, CT 06811. There will even be an autographing session beforehand at 5:30.

Tickets start at $20. For more information, visit northeastwrestling.com and find them on Facebook.
