Contact us by January 4th as our caucus to elect membership for 2016-18 will be held on January 11th where a recommended slate will be presented. The caucus will be open to all registered Bethel Republicans.

Remember, with public service, volunteers can provide invaluable expertise as well as have an avenue to participate in our Town’s government.

Not all positions require running for election; there are positions to which one is appointed. Some of these appointed positions are:
• Building Committees
• Commission on Aging
• Cable TV Advisory Council
• Constables
• Deer Alliance Committee
• Ethics Commission
• Housing Authority
• Insurance and Pension Commission
• Justice of the Peace
• Library Board of Directors
• Parks and Recreation Commission
• Youth Commission

Vacancies in these appointments often occur after the expiration of established term limits. Interested individuals in these positions are recommended by our Republican Town Committee. These recommendations are then forwarded to the Board of Selectman for approval.

For those registered Republican Bethel residents who are interested in seeking a public office on diverse Boards or Commissions, the following are elected positions:
• Board of Selectmen
• Town Clerk
• Town Treasurer
• Board of Education
• Board of Finance
• Planning and Zoning Commission
• Inland Wetlands Commission
• Police Commission
• Board of Assessment
• Zoning Board of Appeals
