BETHEL, CT — Looking for somewhere to watch fireworks this Independence Day?
While Bethel does not host a municipal fireworks display, there are several celebrations within a short drive, including events in Danbury, Weston and other Connecticut communities.
Bethel Firecracker 8K
One of Bethel's longest-running Independence Day traditions returns July 4 with the annual John DeMille Firecracker 8K Road Race.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center, 1 School St. Registration is $48.70 through race day.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers, along with age-group awards.

Danbury Fireworks Show
Danbury's annual fireworks celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at Candlewood Lake Danbury Town Park.
The free event will feature live music by Junk, concession stands and a fireworks display at dusk. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
A rain date is set for June 28.
Weston's Family 4th Celebration
Weston's annual "3rd of July" celebration returns July 3 at Weston Middle School.
The event features live music, food trucks and fireworks at dusk. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
Quassy 4th Of July Beach Party And Fireworks
Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury will host its annual Fourth of July Beach Party and 3D Fireworks Spectacular on July 4.
The beach party begins at 8 p.m. and fireworks are scheduled for approximately 10 p.m.
New Canaan Fourth Of July Fireworks
New Canaan's annual fireworks celebration is set for July 4 at Waveny Park.
The event will feature live music, food vendors, family activities and a fireworks display after dark. Gates open at 5 p.m.
