Latest Bethel Coronavirus Update: 1st Death Reported

Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Bethel.

BETHEL, CT — The Connecticut Department of Public Health has confirmed there are 103 active cases of the new coronavirus in the Town as of Sunday. The Town has also lost its first resident to COVID-19.

"The victim was a woman between the ages of 70-79," First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker posted on the Town website. "On behalf of our community I offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family."

Statewide there were another 60 coronavirus-associated deaths and 525 positive cases reported on Sunday, with an increase in hospitalization by 61. To date there have been 12,035 confirmed coronavirus cases in Connecticut and 554 deaths. There are currently 1,654 people hospitalized for COVID-19.
