Man With Active Warrant from Bethel PD Arrested in Danbury

The man fled from Danbury Police after he was approached following a physical altercation with his roommate.

Two Danbury men were charged after police responded to the report of an assault in progress.

Police were sent to the area of 69 South Street at approximately 11:15 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, one of the men, William Estevez, 22, of Danbury took off running because he had two active warrants from Bethel Police Department, police said.

He was taken into custody following a foot chase.

After speaking with Felipe Carmo, 19, of Danbury police learned that Carmo and Estevez lived together in the same house. Estevez allegedly came home and accused Carmo of taking his money from the home, which led to a physical altercation.

Carmo allegedly struck Estevez in the head with a pipe during the altercation.

Estevez was charged with interfering with an officer, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. Carmo was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree assault and held on $2,500 bond.

Estevez was additionally charged with two Bethel PD Warrants. He was charged with interfering with a police officer, second degree failure to appear, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and strangulation and held on $5,000 bond. He was also charged with possession of marijuana, failure to pay or plead and second degree failure to appear and held on a $500 bond.
