In Memory of William J. Gorman, Jr.
The Bethel resident passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015 at the age of 71.

William J. Gorman, Jr., 71, of Bethel, CT, died Monday, November 9, 2015, at Danbury Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. He was the loving father of Jeff and Paul Gorman.
A Danbury native, William John Francis Gorman, Jr. (Billy, or Bill, as he was known) was born on January 27, 1944. He was enrolled in St. Peter’s and Danbury High Schools, and graduated in 1961. He attended WestConn for several years while working for Lathrop’s Power Equipment. He served honorably in combat in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After retiring from a long career at Prudential Insurance in 1995, he remained active, working for the Town of Redding’s Transfer Station for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed helping any and all people in need, and was a longtime member of the Concordia Society.
Along with his sons Jeff, of Winthrop, MA, and Paul, of Sherman, CT, as well as his mother, Mrs. Marjory Lathrop, he will be sadly missed by his brother Michael J. Lathrop & family, and sisters Donna Tlasky and Diane Simms & families, all of North Forty, New Fairfield; brother Thomas Lathrop & family, of Fremont, Nebraska, and sister Margaret ‘Peggy’ Lathrop & family, of Tennessee. He was predeceased by his father, Howard T. Lathrop. In addition he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his former wife Patricia Toupin.
To honor Bill’s wishes, there was a Memorial of Life service on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the Cornell Funeral Home.
