Obituary: Domenick (Dom) Ernest DiRico, 90, Of Bethel

Dom was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed being a volunteer fireman at the Stony Hill Fire Department.

BETHEL, CT — Domenick (Dom) Ernest DiRico, 90, of Bethel peacefully passed holding his wife’s hand of 65 years, surrounded by his loved ones at home on Feb. 12.

Dom was born in Port Chester, NY on April 22, 1932 to Domenick and Josephine (Chiacchio) DiRico. Dom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He met the love of his life, Mary Regina Ward in Port Chester in their youth. They married on Sept. 22, 1957 and soon thereafter started their family. In 1966 they moved to Bethel, into the home they have lived in ever since, and raised their four children.

Dom is survived by his wife Mary, children Domenick DiRico, Ann Marie Gionet of Ellington, Kenneth DiRico of Gales Ferry, and Carolyn DiRico (Garrison) of Lyons, CO and his grandchildren Joshua, Michael, Olivia, Cole, Abigail, Katie, Gina, and Matthew.

Domenick was proud veteran of the United States Army. He was an avid sports fan following his beloved NY Yankees and NY Giants. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed being a volunteer fireman at the Stony Hill Fire Department.

The family will receive friends at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave, Bethel, CT. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 26 Dodgingtown Rd, Bethel, CT on Thursday, February 16th at 10:00 AM followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Grassy Plain St, Bethel, CT for burial.
