BETHEL, CT — The Baklas family sadly announces the sudden passing of their beloved mother Evangeline Baklas on Aug. 6, 2023, in her homeland of Greece. A Bethel resident for 45 years, she was pre-deceased by her loving husband Philip.

She leaves behind her son Steve and his wife Debbie, daughter Maria and her husband Tommaso Terilli, her precious grandchildren, Luca, Alexander, Sophia, Eva, Constantine, and her sisters, Evyenia and Ourania.

Evangeline also known as Kaki by her loved ones, was a selfless beacon of kindness and compassion and exuded the fruits of the spirit. She made friends effortlessly through her humor, loving nature, generous hospitality, and willingness to give a helping hand whenever needed. Kaki simply adored babies and was a nanny for numerous children throughout the years. She also did light work as a seamstress.

Kaki was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury for many years and volunteered on many occasions and events.

A deeply contemplative person, Kaki was a blessing to all who knew her and will be sorely missed. May her memory be eternal!

The Rite of Burial will take place on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church,30 Clapboard Ridge Rd., Danbury. Interment will follow in Beechwood Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY.

Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, Aug 24, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Trisagion service will take place on Thursday evening at 7:45 p.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home.

We humbly request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the American Heart Association.
