Obituary: James R. Leheny, 85, Of Bethel
James was known as "The Mortgage Man" having worked for numerous lenders before retiring.

BETHEL, CT — James R. Leheny of Bethel, husband of the late Clarissa Trimpert Leheny, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023. He was born Aug. 21, 1937 in Danbury to the late Edward and Marcella Leheny.
He attended Danbury Schools and graduated Becker Junior College with a degree in accounting. James worked at Danbury Hospital, where he met his wife Clarissa Trimpert. They lived in Bethel and raised their family, five sons and a daughter.

James was known as “The Mortgage Man” for many years, working for Michigan National Bank, Independence One, GMAC Mortgage, New Mil Bank, Nutmeg Federal and Prysma Lending Group to name a few, before retiring.
He is survived by his son Kevin Leheny (Maria) of South Carolina, his daughter Ann Marie Brown (Jeffrey) of Brookfield, his sons Patrick Leheny (Julie) of New Milford, Michael (Michelle) Leheny of Danbury and Brian (Mary) Leheny of North Carolina and daughter-in-law Patti Leheny of North Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters Alice Smart and Eleanor Kirk, sister-in-law Kay Leheny, in addition to eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his eldest son Terry and his brother Edward.

Memorials may be made to the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department, 59 Stony Hill Rd., Bethel, CT 06801.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Wednesday morning, Feb. 22, from 10:00 to 12:00, followed by a procession to St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel for a graveside service at 12:30.
