Obituary: Lois 'Lo' Trowbridge, 101, Of Bethel
In 1943, as soon as she turned 21 and was eligible, Lo joined the US Women's Army Corp and proudly served for the remainder of World War II.

BETHEL, CT — On May 20, 2023 Lois (“Lo”) Trowbridge of Bethel, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at age 101.
She was born in Bethel, Connecticut on January 28, 1922, and lived there most of her life. Lois graduated from Bethel High School and secretarial school. As soon as she turned 21 and was eligible to join the US Women’s Army Corp (WAC), she did so in 1943 and proudly served for the remainder of World War II.

Lois was an executive secretary at Republic Foil in Danbury. After retiring from Republic Foil, Lois worked as a private secretary for many years. Lois enjoyed learning about different cultures and meeting new people, and relished her time traveling extensively around the world. Lois made friends easily, both at home and abroad, and visited and corresponded with those many friends throughout her lifetime.
Lois cherished her family. She is survived by her sister Grace Kastel and her husband Roger of Milford, MA as well as five nieces and a nephew; Linda Garrity and her husband Don of Bridgewater, Suzanne Perry and her husband Dean of New Milford, Sharon Lawrence and her husband Joseph of McLean, VA, Beth Krebs and her husband Michael of Sherborn, MA, Matthew Kastel and his wife Karen of Monrovia, MD, and Sandra Devitt and her husband Dave of McDonough, GA. Lo is also survived by her adored great and great-great nieces and nephews. Lois will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lois’s memory to the Military Women’s Memorial in Washington, D.C.
