Obituary: William J. McNamara III, 55, Of Bethel

BETHEL, CT — William J. McNamara III, age 55 of Bethel, died on June 18th at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of Kathryn (Lambert) McNamara.
Bill was born February 28, 1966, the son of Margaret A. (Grimm) McNamara of Brookfield, and the late William J. McNamara, Jr. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Western Connecticut State University, and was employed with Union Savings Bank, Danbury as Executive Vice President, Chief Risk and Information Officer where he earned multiple accolades for his professional accomplishments. Bill was on the board of DAWS, The Danbury Westerners, and TBICO.

Bill was a lifelong NY Yankees, Miami Dolphins, and UCONN men’s basketball fan and shared his passion for sports with his son. In addition to holidays and family gatherings, Bill looked forward to the annual family trip to the Outer Banks.
He was a parishioner of Saint Mary Church, Bethel.

In addition to his wife Kathryn and his mother Margaret, Bill is survived by his son Kevin W. McNamara of Bethel, two sisters: Margaret Maasz and her husband William of Pawling, NY and Marybeth Bolduc and her husband Gary of Ludlow, MA, his mother in law Karol Lambert of Bethel, one niece, five nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Thursday June 24th in Saint Mary Church, Bethel. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Wednesday June 23rd from 4 to 7 pm. For those who would like to attend the visitation but have not yet been vaccinated, it is requested that a face mask be worn.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to Brotherhood in Action at Contribute-Brotherhood in Action of Bethel, Inc.
