Opinion: Gun Owner Speaks Out on Open Carry in Grocery Store
A Ridgefield gun owner responds to a Bethel man's letter about open carrying his gun in Caraluzzi's Market in January.

The following is a letter to the editor from Ridfgefield resident Brett Malone in response to Donald Borsch Jr’s letter about open carrying his handgun in Caraluzzi’s Market in Bethel.
“Dear Editor,
I wish I was as eloquent as the man that started this. He made solid point on who carries and how. I have zero problems with people open carrying because they are not the problem.
Our goverment needes to keep criminals locked up. We need better education to help keep people out of jailed and we need a better economy to employ people.
The problem is we are electing people that destroy our economy and let prisoners out way to soon with nothing to fall back ,no jobs, just the life that led them to crime.
One party needs to stop labeling the legally, licensed at a cost as terrorist and evil. We are protective buisness owners, fathers, mothers, young adults, the elderly and just about any other demographic you can name.
In thirty years carrying a weapon, I have only once needed to put my hand on it. The car jacker saw me grab my carry piece and ran from my car. No shots were fired and no harm was done to anyone and that’s how nearly 2,200,000 crimes are prevented a year.”
