• West Nile Virus Detected In Bethel Mosquito (patch.com) — Bethel residents are being urged to step up mosquito precautions after a mosquito trapped at Meckauer Park on August 13 tested positive for West Nile virus, the town's first positive result this year. Local health officials note that only one of 627 mosquitoes tested in Bethel carried the virus, but they stress eliminating standing water and using bite-prevention measures, with more guidance available through the Connecticut Mosquito Management Program.
