Sept. 8 is Board of Assessment Tax Appeals Meeting

Any Bethel resident who wishes to appeal their motor vehicle taxes may do so at September's Board of Assessment appeals meeting.

The September Board of Assessment appeals meeting for Bethel will be held on Sept. 8, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Clifford Hurgin Municipal Center, Meeting Room B, 1 School St., Bethel.

According to the Conn. Gen. Stat. § 12- 117a (2015):

“Any person . . . claiming to be aggrieved by the action of the board of tax review or the board of assessment appeals, as the case may be, in any town or city may, within two months from the date of the mailing of notice of such action, make application, in the nature of an appeal therefrom, . . . to the superior court for the judicial district in which such town or city is situated, which shall be accompanied by a citation to such town or city to appear before said court.”

To Appeal Motor Vehicle Assessment


Motor vehicle appeals are heard in September of each year. You must appear before the Board of Assessment Appeals. Check with the Town Clerk’s Office for their meeting dates.

*Next meeting: Sept. 8, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Clifford Hurgin Municipal Center, Meeting Room B, 1 School St., Bethel.

Real Estate or Personal Property

You must file an application to the Assessor’s Office to appear before the Board of Assessment Appeals. Applications must be received between February 1st and February 20th of each year. Meetings are held during the month of March.
