The Town of Bethel has posted a notice of a special town meeting to be held regarding funding for the Eureka Water Tank. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 7 p.m. at the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center, 1 School Street, Bethel in the general purpose room.
The notice states the meeting is to “consider and take action upon resolution as recommended by the Bethel Board of Selectmen to accept the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management Grant Award in the amount of $100,000.”
The purpose of the grant is for the downtown transit revitalization. The town’s financial share is $150,000 which comes from the Bethel Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker told the News Times last December that the water tank will provide higher water quality to Bethel water customers and allow for expansion of the Clark Business Park. It will also allow firefighters to have access to more water when battling downtown blazes, according to Fire Marshal Tom Galliford.
