South Street Man Arrested for Child Pornography

This is second child pornography arrest in Bethel since June.

This week, the Bethel Police arrested 48-year-old Craig Markey of South Street in Bethel on an active warrant for possession of child pornography in the first degree.

According to the police report, "the arrest was the result of a multi-jurisdictional investigation into the possesssion of sharing child pornogrpahy through peer-to-peer file sharing networks." Police said several angencies had downloaded files of child pornography that orginiated from Markey's residence. 

Bethel police obtained and executed a search warrant for Markey's home on Friday, June 10 where several computers were seized. A subsequent investigation found an excess of 50 depictions of child pornogrpahy on the computer located in Markey's room.

Markey was later released on $10,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in State Superior Court in Danbury on Friday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m.

The arresting officer in this case was Detective George J. Bryce, Jr.
