Stephen Tarbay, 91, of Bethel, passed away peacefully at his home on September 2nd, 2015. He was born on October 18, 1924, in Petna, Poland, the son of Piotr and Tekla Tarbaj.
In 1942, at age 18, Steve was forced to go and work in Germany. In 1949 he came to the United States. He lived and worked in Yonkers, NY for a few years before moving to Bethel, CT. Steve worked for more than 38 years with his partner, Mark Pawlak, in their Connecticut Window Cleaning business.
Steve was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Antonette, in November 2012. He is survived by his sister, Maria, and his brother, Wasyl and his wife, Helena, in Poland, his sisters Helena Ciok of Mountainside, NJ and Patricia Mead and her husband, William, of Auburn, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. A loving husband, uncle and brother, Steve will always be remembered for his kind and generous heart, amazing gardening skills, and his eye for detail.
Funeral services [were] held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 30 Church Street, Georgetown, CT (GPS-Redding) on Saturday, September 5 at 9:15 AM. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Ridgefield, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Steve’s name to Saint Mary’s Parish, 26 Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, Connecticut, 06801.
