[Update] Firefighters Struggled to Find Hydrant Before Containing Highland Avenue Fire

Fire contained in about an hour.

Update 7:30 p.m.:
As of Monday night, the cause of the Highland Avenue fire is under investigation by state and local fire marshals, according to Bethel Volunteer Fire Department Chief Fred Ingram.

Ingram said upon arriving at the scene, firefighters faced a "well-involved fire" on the first, second and attic floors on the rear side of the house.

One homeowner was home at the time and was outside the house by the time firefighters arrived. Ingram confirmed that there were no firefighter or bystander injuries.

Ingram also said the firefighters had trouble finding a fire hydrant, as most of the ones nearby were covered with snow from the previous storms. Therefore a tanker had to be used for water until one was found.

The fire was contained in about one hour.
