Take Time Relaxation Center and Art Gallery offers therapeutic massage for relaxation benefits, but also strongly believes in the healing benefits of the visual art world. This summer, Take Time is proud to display the artwork of local artist, Meghan Perrone.
Perrone is a newcomer to the Connecticut art scene, and this will be her first solo show displaying her oil, acrylic, and multimedia paintings.
As an adolescent, Perrone was inspired by Salvador Dali and his ability to put his surrealistic dreams onto a canvas. She would often view his work in galleries, trying to make out each brush stroke in an attempt to imagine his progression. As such, her work is inspired by the surrealist, abstract, and impressionistic phases of art. As she has grown as an artist, Perrone has also been inspired by Michael Parkes, who has reminded her to challenge herself and enjoy the “fresh air” of expressionism. Also, Perrone utilizes music, thoughts, and emotions, translating those onto canvas, creating a varied collection.
“Much of my work is about interpretation, but the goal is to evoke an emotional response,” Perrone said. “The images are for the beholder to decipher with their perspective lens as the only filter.”
Perrone is a self taught artist, experimenting with sketching, drawing, and painting all since she was a young child. Her focus has been oil painting for the past three years, which represents the majority of her work being displayed at Take Time. Perrone’s collection is an eclectic combination of abstract colorscapes with interpretive landscapes and florals.
Perrone is looking forward to her opening reception on Saturday, July 27, 2013 and is elated about this landmark occasion in her artistic career. The reception is from 7:30 – 9:00 pm.
