Transfer Station Accepting Tree Limbs, Brush Free of Charge

Bethel residents can use the transfer station free of charge for tree limbs and brush post snow storm.

According to First Selecman Matthew Knickerbocker, the transfer station will begin accepting tree limbs and brush free of charge. Drivers will only need to show proof of residency in Bethel.

"Only the tree branches and brush can be dropped off free of charge, not kitchen waste or other outdoor debris," Knickerbocker said. "If a tree crushed your back yard picnic table or picket fence, for example, please make sure those items are separated from the yard debris."

For residents without means to get the yard debris to the transfer station, Knickerbocker said, the town will issue a pickup schedule for yard debris and leaves by the end of the week.

Pickups can not begin until our crews are completely done clearing roads, so residents will have plenty of time to get the material ready, he said.
