Turf Field Purged from Bethel Budget
The new plan calls for a town budget of $29.5 million and a capital budget of $1.1 million.

BETHEL, CT — Responding to the public referendum that voted against a proposed $29.8 million town budget and $2.3 million capital budget last week, the Bethel Board of Finance trimmed the new turf field out of its latest plan.
The latest proposal, voted on at Tuesday night's meeting of the finance board, is $325,000 less than the plan residents defeated by 66 votes last week. A new highway truck joined the turf at DeSantis Field on the chopping block. The new plan calls for a town budget of $29.5 million and a capital budget of $1.1 million.
Next steps? Voters will have an opportunity to discuss the cuts and schedule another referendum at a town meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday April 24 at the high school auditorium.
