VIDEO: Kids Urged to Use 'Nag Power' to Stop Parents' Distracted Driving

PBS Kids, the CT DOT and WGBH created a new video asking kids to use 'nag power' to stop their parents from talking/texting while driving.

Just in time for the busy holiday travel season, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has teamed up with PBS Kids and WGBH Boston for a safe driving nitiative that empowers kids to prevent distracted driving with the help of a beloved animated PBS KIDS character, Ruff Ruffman.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 1,300 people are injured every day on the nation’s highways as a result of a distracted driving crash. The campaign tells kids use the ‘nag’ approach to encourage their parents to keep their eyes on the road and stop texting or talking while driving.

The Ruff Ruffman Website features a safe driving quiz, polls about technology use, a guide for parents, and real letters from kids about their own families’ distracted driving experiences.

The Distracted Driving Video is a humorous campaign that explains how kids’ use of “nag power” can convince their parents to “hang up and drive!”
