Woman Crashes on School Street in Bethel, Kills Dog: Police

The woman is accused of driving under the influence after causing a crash on School Street in downtown Bethel on Sunday afternoon.

A 31-year-old Naugatuck woman is accused of driving under the influence after causing a crash on School Street at P.T. Barnum Square on Sunday at 2:24 p.m., according to a release from the Bethel Police Department.

Kayla Lashway was charged with operation under the influence, failure to drive right and improper lane change. The crash killed a dog in one of the vehicles.

The Bethel Fire Department had to extricate both people in the other vehicle. The injuries were not life-threatening, according to police. Lashway was not hurt.

She was released on bond and is due in court in Danbury on Dec. 7, 2015.
