Women's Health at Risk; S.B. 586

Women are in grave danger of losing vital healthcare coverage here in Connecticut. We must take action!

Dear Bethel residents,

I write because coverage for women’s healthcare, particularly contraception, is in jeopardy here in CT. Every day we see new momentum on altering key provisions of the ACA. One hugely important piece of the ACA has been coverage of women’s preventive services without cost sharing, including all FDA-approved forms of contraceptives.
In 2017, Connecticut legislators introduced S.B. 586, a bill that would protect all women’s preventive services without cost sharing. This means that women will not be forced to pay more for contraceptives if the ACA is repealed because insurance will still cover those costs.
However, S.B. 586 failed to get a final vote. Although senator Toni Boucher voted “yes” on the bill, legislator William Duff has not yet shared if he will vote yes or no on the bill. Right now we are at risk of losing coverage for vital services, and our legislatures urgently need to take action to pass S.B. 586 in the upcoming special session.
As a constituent of William Duff, and as a supporter and member of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut, I am asking that William Duff takes action to support this vital legislation passing during the special session.
Contact William Duff at this number: 860-240-8700
Women in Connecticut cannot afford to wait for 2018 to pass this bill.
Many thanks, Joely Feder, volunteer for NARAL Pro-Choice America, Bethel, CT
