31-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of 14-Year-Old CT Girl: State Police

The incident occurred in July 2015, according to state police.

Prospect, CT - A 31-year-old Prospect man was arrested on a warrant Tuesday in connection with the July 2015 sexual assault of a then 14-year-old girl at a party in the Connecticut town, according to state police.

Jirom R. Gibeau was arrested in Massachusetts Tuesday and charged with First Degree Sexual Assault and Risk of Injury to a Child, and is being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

According to state police, Gibeau is accused of raping the girl - the younger sister of a friend of his - while she was passed out during the early morning hours of July 4, 2015.

The girl, who state police said was shaken up by the assault, did not tell her family about it until July 7.

She told state police that she awoke to find him sexually assaulting her on a couch in the basement. He claimed to state police that she was conscious and the encounter was consensual.

He was staying at the home at the time, and members of the girl's family confronted him about the alleged sexual assault before they contacted authorities. The girl's brother even punched Gibeau in the face, according to state police.

Gibeau is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Wednesday.
