Homicide Victim Identified by Woodbridge Police: UPDATE
Two nearby schools in town were placed into a secure mode briefly on Wednesday.

UPDATE: Woodbridge Police say the victim of Wednesday's homicide is Alan Robinson Jr, 37, of New Haven, according to media reports including Fox 61. Police said the man's body was found in the road on Rimmon Road and he was the victim of a shooting.

WOODBRIDGE, CT — Just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a body lying in the road on Rimmon Road in the area between Deer Run and Robin roads, Police Chief Frank P. Cappiello said.

Police found a male victim who was later pronounced dead at the scene. The body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who will make a determination as to victim’s positive identification and the exact cause of death, Cappiello said.
The homicide investigation, being conducted by the Woodbridge Police Department with the assistance of the CT State Police Central District Major Crime Unit, is ongoing and active, police said. At this time there is no immediate threat to residents, police said.

Rimmon Road remains closed in this area as of 7:30 p.m., but it is expected to reopen shortly.
WOODBRIDGE, CT — A shooting death that occurred on Rimmon Road led to both Amity High School and Beecher Road School being placed in "secure mode," which meant no one could enter or exit the schools, according to media reports.
Both schools are back into full operation and the secure mode has been lifted, NBC Connecticut reports.
Fox 61, citing sources, says police are investigating a homicide that occurred near Rimmon Road and Deer Run Road. There is a heavy law enforcement presence there. NBC Connecticut said police are investigating a shooting death. Neighbors have reported that a body was found in the street.
