Amity Middle School Bethany Student's Art Work Hung In Museum

​Congratulations to Mingyue Zha, who is a 7th grade student at Amity Middle School in Bethany.

From Amity Regional School District No. 5: Congratulations to Mingyue Zha, who is a 7th grade student at Amity Middle School in Bethany. She was the 2nd place prize winner for the annual art contest at Peabody Museum during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration that was held in January 2018. She participated in the Yale Peabody Museum art contest. Her artwork was displayed at Peabody Museum for 2 days. The theme of the contest was to honor Dr. King and his legacy visually through works of art. The top 20 submissions were displayed at Peabody Museum. There were 3 winners for Connecticut middle and high school students. 1st place: $150 and a 2018 MLK t-shirt; 2nd place: $75 and a 2018 MLK t-shirt; 3rd place: $25 and a 2018 MLK t-shirt.

Mingyue was also selected for an honorable mention in the Connecticut Student Writers (CSW) Magazine for her artwork of oil painting, “Grayness,” and her poetry piece, “Black Hole.” These works will be published in the Magazine.
