Amity Middle School Bethany Students Get Published

We congratulate all of the students that submitted work.

From Amity MS: Ten students from Amity Middle School in Bethany were recognized by the Connecticut Writing Project (CWP) that sponsors the Connecticut Student Writers, a magazine established in 1987 by the CWP to honor excellence in writing by students from kindergarten through high school.

Three honored writers’ and three artists’ original work will be published in the 2018 Connecticut Student Writers Magazine. These students include seventh graders, Riya Bonde, Rebecca Huang, and Mingyue Zha; and eighth graders, Grace Gianquinto, Ava Gross, and Alice Youtz. Amity Middle School in Bethany also received five honorable mentions, which include Violet Bisset, Grace Lupoli, and Mingyue Zha from the seventh grade, as well as Zachary Garfinkle and Nora Youtz from the eighth grade.

To honor the newly published writers the Connecticut Writing Project will host a Student Recognition Night on Thursday, May 10 th , at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs with a keynote address from Matt de la Peña, a New York Times bestselling Newbery Medal winning author. Selected writers will be chosen to represent their grade by reading their winning entries, and all writers and featured artists will be honored and presented with certificates and copies of the magazine. We congratulate all of the students that submitted work.
