Amity Region 5: School Budget Referendum Tuesday
Polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday and close at 8 p.m.

WOODBRIDGE, CT - Voters in Bethany, Orange and Woodbridge - which combined make up the Amity Region 5 District - will head to the polls Tuesday, May 3, to cast their vote on the proposed $47.8 million school budget for 2016-17.
The spending plan, which was approved by the Board of Education in late March, carries an increase of nearly 2 percent, or roughly $934,000.
Combined, the cost of salaries and expenses for special education together increased almost $1.3 million for next year, but all other expenditures combined dropped almost $350,000, according to the Board of Education.

Total district enrollment is expected to grow to 2,294 students, or eight above what was projected for next year.
