The man had worked for the town's parks and recreation department.

BETHANY, CT — A former town parks and recreation employee charged with sexually assaulting minors has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Mastrangelo was sentenced Tuesday in Superior Court in New Haven.

After he serves the four years, he will be on probation for a decade. If he violates probation, he could have to serve a full 20 years in prison. Mastrangelo also must register with the state as a sex offender, court documents show.

State police arrested Mastrangelo following claims he abused minors who were enrolled in Bethany's parks and recreation programs while he was an intern and counselor.

Mastrangelo's employment with the town ended in June 2023. He was accused of sexually abusing five victims, according to police.

Mastrangelo is incarcerated at the New Haven Correctional Center, and he is due to be released in August 2030, state records show.
