Modification of Safety Practices Regarding COVID-19

Effective Wednesday, February 9, 2022 As many civil restrictions are being eased or even eliminated and more and more people are "out and about" in pursuit of daily activities, it is now time to end or ease many of the liturgical precautions that have been in place for parishes within the Archdiocese of Hartford.

Such precautions are now at the discretion of pastors, and should be in alignment with any local civil restrictions that remain, as well as the sensitivities of parishioners and the pastor's own assessment. Parishioners who wish to still observe their own precautions are permitted to do so.

At the onset of the pandemic, I implored the people of our Archdiocese to pray the earliest known prayer to Mary, Sub Tuum Praesidium. Now, with the worst of the pandemic seemingly behind us, it would be most appropriate to revisit this prayer, asking for Mary's protection all the days of our lives.

We fly to thy protection, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
